Some wedding days just feel like they’re sprinkled with a little extra magic, and Katelyn and Nathan’s was one of them. From the moment the weekend began, it was clear how much love, thought, and intention went into every single detail. Even the weather seemed to play along perfectly — a little rain for good luck, followed by sunshine right when it mattered most. The showers were spread out so well throughout the day that they never interrupted the fun; instead, they added an extra layer of charm to an already beautiful celebration.

The ceremony took place in front of the hydrangea garden, and it couldn’t have been a more fitting backdrop for their vows. Their sweet pup, Oakley, made her grand entrance as the flower girl, which had everyone smiling and set the tone for a ceremony that was heartfelt, genuine, and very “them.”

And that theme carried through the whole day. Every element of their wedding reflected pieces of their story together. Guests found their seats with the help of maple syrup bottles — a nod to Nate’s family tradition of “maple syrup weekend” up north, when everyone gathers to collect sap and boil it down into syrup. For dessert, Kwik Trip donuts were served (a road trip ritual of theirs), and later in the evening, guests got to enjoy cereal as a late-night snack — a staple in Katelyn and Nathan’s home. These personal touches not only made the day unique, but they made it feel like you were stepping right into their world.

The bridal party added to the energy and had everyone laughing, cheering, and celebrating right alongside the couple. From getting ready in the house to dancing the night away, the whole group made sure the day was filled with joy from start to finish.

Their story is just as sweet as their wedding. Back in early 2021, Katelyn was trying to set up her roommate with someone and promised she’d go on a date with “a random person from Hinge” if her roommate went too. That random date turned out to be Nate. Their first date at The Block in St. Louis Park was such a success that they made plans to see each other again just two days later. It didn’t take long for both of them to realize this was something special. Fast forward, and Nate’s proposal on the 18th hole of Pokegama Golf Course — complete with all their family and friends secretly waiting to celebrate — was the perfect lead-up to their wedding day.

Choosing Malbay as their venue brought everything full circle. Nate grew up on Bass Lake, so hosting their wedding here felt both sentimental and personal. They loved having everything together on-site for the weekend — from rehearsal dinner to the big day — and they embraced the venue’s mix of rustic, up-north charm with modern touches. The fact that Malbay is dog-friendly was the icing on the cake, since Oakley was such an important part of their celebration.

Katelyn and Nathan’s wedding was more than just a day — it was a weekend filled with laughter, meaning, and traditions both old and new. Every little detail told their story, and every moment felt authentic to who they are as a couple. From the rain and sunshine, to the heartfelt ceremony, to the donuts and cereal at the end of the night, it was truly a celebration that no one will forget.
